What is a Spring Clean-Out?

We remove your fish to an aerated holding tank.  Sludge and debris are removed. The pond is drained and rocks pressure washed.  Plants are trimmed and fertilized.  The Bio-falls are cleaned out. All filters are cleaned or replaced.  Burned out light bulbs are replaced.  The pond is refilled and the water dechlorinated and treated with beneficial bacteria.  The fish are reintroduced into pond after acclimating. The water will be within 4° of the new pond water.

What is a fall Shut-Down?

Fall is the time to winterize your water feature. It's time to to trim back your perennial marginal plants, stop fertilizing, and clean the leaves out of your water feature. Make sure your skimmer is free of leaves and debris. Depending on the wind and the amount of deciduous trees in your yard, cleaning the skimmer may be on a daily basis. Any debris overwintering in the pond will become algae food in the spring!  If there are big deciduous trees near by, throwing a net over your pond to catch the leaves is a good idea.
